Terms of Service
Effective: 4 July 2026 · Version 2026-07
1. About the Service
Web of Medicine (the "Service") is a medical literature reading application for clinicians, researchers, and students. The Service aggregates and summarizes published medical literature from public sources such as PubMed, and provides features including personalized feeds, AI-generated summaries, AI-generated audio podcasts, evidence level gradings, journal quality indicators, and related tools.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Not Medical Advice
The Service is an informational and educational tool only. AI-generated summaries, podcasts, evidence gradings, and any other content produced or displayed by the Service are provided for general information and do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.
AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations of the underlying research. You must verify any information against the original published sources before relying on it, and you must exercise your own independent professional judgment in all clinical decisions. The Service is not intended for use in medical emergencies or in any situation where a delay or error in information could cause harm.
3. Who May Use the Service
The Service is intended for healthcare professionals, medical researchers, and students of the health professions. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. During sign-up you self-attest that you meet these requirements; we may suspend or terminate accounts that do not.
4. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide when creating your account, for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at support@webofmedicine.ai if you suspect unauthorized use of your account. We may suspend accounts to protect the Service or other users.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or otherwise systematically extract content or data from the Service, whether manually or by automated means;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service or its content;
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service, probe its security, or attempt to access accounts or data belonging to others;
- misrepresent AI-generated content from the Service as original published research.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
6. Subscriptions and Billing
Some features of the Service require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are auto-renewing and are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on where you downloaded the app. In-app purchases are processed via RevenueCat.
Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled through your App Store or Google Play account settings, not within the app or by contacting us. Refunds are handled by the relevant store under its own policies. Prices may change; where required, we will give you notice before a price change takes effect on renewal.
7. Free Tier and Advertising
We offer a free tier of the Service. The free tier is supported by advertising, which may be shown within the app. Paid subscription tiers may remove or reduce advertising. We do not control the content of third-party advertisements.
8. Intellectual Property
Article titles, abstracts, metadata, and full texts referenced by the Service belong to their respective publishers and authors and are used under the terms applicable to those sources. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in that third-party content beyond what its owners permit.
The Service itself, including its software, design, and the AI-generated summaries, podcasts, and gradings it produces, is owned by us or our licensors. Summaries and other derived works are provided to you under a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license for your own professional and educational use. You may not redistribute them commercially.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate or current.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. In particular, we accept no liability for clinical, diagnostic, or treatment decisions made in reliance on the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
11. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time from within the app, or by emailing support@webofmedicine.ai. Deletion removes your profile and reading history as described in our Privacy Policy. Any active subscription must be cancelled separately through the App Store or Google Play; deleting your account does not automatically cancel a store-managed subscription.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of them. The current version and effective date are always shown at the top of this page.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of the Service is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your place of residence.
